Traditional Greek Salad Recipe: Popular Flavors in Greek Cuisine

Greek cuisine is sometimes misunderstood, with people thinking it is all kabobs and pita bread. There are so many amazing Greek dishes you can try, including stews, casseroles, soups and other recipes.

Common ingredients used in Greek cooking include lemon, feta cheese, spinach, tomatoes, lamb, wine and olive oil. Greek wine is unusual. Most of the young reds are wonderful served lightly chilled while the whites range from dry to sweet, with some (including the famous Retsina) offering a pine flavor which some people love and others hate.

A lot of Greek dishes seem very simple, including little more than the meat or fish, the vegetable, some olive oil and perhaps a few olives or a pinch of seasoning. A lot of the taste comes from the main ingredients, and Greek cuisine is well worth investigating and learning more about.
