Pairing cabbage and potatoes with cumin, ginger, turmeric, and chili, this simple yet hearty Indian curry is perfect for vegetarians. The flavor is really good and this is an authentic potato and cabbage curry recipe.


  • 1 lb (450g) shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 lb (225g) boiled, mashed potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 tablespoon oil


  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet and fry the cumin and ginger for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the cabbage and cook for 15 minutes.
  3. Add the mashed potatoes, turmeric, chili powder, and salt.
  4. Cook for another 15 minutes.
