Baked Camembert Recipe

Camembert, a cousin of Brie, is a tasty cheese from France. This recipe covers the cheese in crispy breadcrumbs and then it is served with a zesty cranberry sauce to contrast with the rich, tangy cheese.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 small whole Camembert cheeses
  • 80 g (3 oz) fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Lamb's lettuce, for garnish (optional)
For the Sauce:
  • 200 g (7 oz) cranberry sauce
  • Zest and juice of half an orange

Method
 

  1. Dip each cheese in the egg and coat with the breadcrumbs, then refrigerate for half an hour.
  2. Bake at 175C/350F for half an hour or until golden brown.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the sauce ingredients in a pan and warm over the stove.
  4. Serve the cheese topped with the sauce, on a bed of lamb's lettuce if you wish.
