Put a dry griddle pan on the stove over a high heat and leave it to heat up for a few minutes.
Spritz your gammon with spray oil (or rub on some regular oil).
Grind some black pepper on to it.
Flick some water at the griddle.
If it hisses and dances the griddle is hot enough.
If not, let it warm up some more.
Put the gammon steak on the griddle and cook it for 2 minutes.
Flip it over and give it another 2 minutes or cook until the color is paler.
If you want a crisscross effect, rotate it 90 degrees when you flip it.
If you don't have a griddle pan, use a skillet (frying pan) for all this.
Serve the gammon steak right away with a fried egg on top or with a pineapple ring (canned is fine) on top.
