Mackerel Pate Starter

Smoked mackerel is blended with any kind of soft cheese (or cream cheese), green onions, lemon, pepper and Tabasco, and the result is amazing. Serve this with melba toast or crackers perhaps.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 x 180g (2 x 6½ oz) cans smoked mackerel fillets
  • 200 g (7 oz) softened cream cheese
  • Bunch spring onions (green onions), thinly sliced (keep a few to garnish)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Few drops Tabasco sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method
 

  1. Flake the fish into a bowl and stir in everything else.
  2. Chill until required.
