Cream cheese is all you will be using for the filling, so if you are a cream cheese fan you are going to really love this. Fill your wonton skins with cream cheese then fry them for a delicious result.

  • 4 oz (110g) cream cheese
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Oil, for frying
  • Water, as needed

  1. Lightly grease a chopping board. Wet the edges of a wonton wrapper with water, then add a teaspoon of cream cheese in the center of the wrapper. Fold the edges to seal and make sure you squeeze out all the air.
  2. Put the finished wonton on the greased chopping board and cover with a clean damp towel to keep moist while you make the remaining 11 cream cheese wontons. If you are new to making cream cheese wontons recipes it might take a while to finish them all, but speedy wonton cooks can make several per minute.
  3. Heat an inch oil to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C in a skillet or frying pan. Put the wontons in the oil and fry for a couple of minutes minutes. Flip them over and keep frying for an extra minute and a half or until the wontons start to brown evenly and turn crispy.
  4. Remove from oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot, with a dipping sauce if you like. Chili sauce is nice for dipping cream cheese wontons recipes.

Throw in some well-drained crushed pineapple if you want to add some sweetness. Sweet chili sauce also goes well but you only need a little. Too much liquid means some filling might leak out.

For a cream cheese wontons air fryer method, simply give them 8 to 10 minutes at 370 degrees F (190 degrees C) in the air fryer. Flipping them halfway is optional but isn’t necessary to get all over crispness.

You can also warm cream cheese wontons back up later in the air fryer and they ought to remain crisp.
