Welcome to VictoriaHaneveer.com. This is where I share savory recipes, cooking articles and honest reviews in one place. The food side of the site covers a range of cuisines, with a growing focus on Malaysian cooking, along with dinner ideas, appetizers and dishes I keep coming back to in my own kitchen.

A good place to begin is the Malaysian recipes hub. It brings together regional dishes, ingredient guides and recipe posts, so it’s easier to explore the cuisine without hopping all over the site. If you’ve only tried a few well-known dishes, there’s a lot more to discover.

Recipes I Keep Coming Back To

Most of the recipes here are the kind of food I genuinely want to cook and eat. You’ll find plenty of savory dishes, globally inspired meals, appetizers and mains with clear instructions and useful tips. I’m far more drawn to a good dinner than a tray of cupcakes, so that’s where most of my focus goes!

Some recipes are based on traditional dishes, while others are my own versions shaped by testing, tweaking and repeat cooking. I like recipes with clear flavor, ingredients that earn their place and methods that make sense from start to finish. If something is on this blog, it’s because I rate it highly enough to share.

You’ll find everything from simple everyday meals to dishes that need a bit more attention. Sometimes I want something quick and full of flavor. Other times I want a recipe with more depth, more texture or a stronger regional identity. Both have a place here.

Explore Malaysian Cooking

A collage of Malaysian recipes and Malaysian food.

Malaysian food is a big part of this site. It’s one of the most interesting cuisines I’ve cooked, with strong regional differences, layered seasoning and dishes that deserve far more attention than they usually get. You’ll find well-known recipes like nasi goreng and roti canai, along with more in-depth articles on ingredients, cooking styles and regional specialties from across Malaysia.

What keeps me interested is how varied the food is from one place to another. The dishes, sauces, herbs and spice pastes can shift a lot depending on the region, and that’s part of what makes Malaysian cooking worth digging into. I’m building this part of the site as a place to explore both the familiar dishes and the ones people don’t hear about as often.

Articles and Reviews

Alongside the recipes, I also share food articles and product reviews. Some posts look more closely at ingredients, techniques or regional food traditions, and then others cover products or places I’ve tried myself and have a clear opinion about.

I aim to keep reviews specific, useful and based on real experience, not vague praise or recycled talking points.

I’d rather tell you exactly what worked, what didn’t and why, whether I’m writing about a dish, an ingredient or something I bought. That matters more than dressing everything up as amazing.
